Should I wait or go to vet today?

I've had Bella about almost a year now. It's been 10 months she has been going the whole night without needing to go out to wee (11-12pm until 8-9am). Once she did ask to go out at 5am and this is because she has diarrhoea.
Well yesterday we went to bed at midnight, and she asked to go out (she'd been on her toilet walk just an hour ago). I thought it was strange but i took her out and she did 2 big wees, and we came home. Then she woke me up at 4.30 am to go out. I was sure she had diarrhoea to be asking toi go out at this hour, but she actually didn't. She again made a very big wee and then a smaller one, and we went back to bed.

I am wondering if she may have a bladder infection. She is 100% fien in herself, was weeing normally on her morning walk, no straining or hesitation before going. It is also strange that she produced a lot of wee both tiems she asked to go out last nigth, as I was udner the impression that with a bladder infection you go often but only produce a little.

Should I wait and see how today and tonight go? or book an appt at thevet for later?

Could she be going to the toilet more often as she is drinking alot more in this hot weather? I have to take my dog Toby out more often due to this.

She was fine on her walk this morning and played her heart out when we got home, but now im paranoid she seems a bit down. I think I'll see how she si tonight and probably go tomorrow.

I'm the same with Toby; any slight change & I start to worry! I suppose it's better to take them for a check up if you have any concerns though even if only to put your mind at rest.
Hope she's ok

Re: Should I wait or go to vet today?

My Teddy had a UTI about 3 weeks ago, he was weeing small amounts but very often. He was also fine in himself, it probably is to do with the warm weather.

Re: Should I wait or go to vet today?

This is definitely not small amounts, it is normal if not more than normal...and so far today she has been normal wee - wise.

But she didn't want her lunch

Sometimes I think I may as well move house and live right next to the vet surgery - we seem to be there almost every day!

We need to go to the vet on next week as we are travlleing to arrange documents/worming etc, but looks like we'll be seeing him this week too.

LOL, I've only had Toby 5 months (he's also my first dog) so every day I find something to worry about ... does he look too tired, hungry, do his hips move ok, does he look stiff, is he sleeping too much, is he too hot?????

I was starting to make almost weekly trips there

Bella isn't my first dog. My first dog is my Nelly who I lost last May to a horrible automimmune disease He wasn't even 9 years old.

He was never a healthy boy so we visited the vet far too often! He was the best boy in the world though Perfect in my eyes. He'll always be my special one.

Bella is the dog I got after losing my Nelly. She seems a lot stronger healthwise, but apart from her heavy season and ear problems...she seems to manage the rest very well on her own - slicing her paw one time, something getting into her paw more recently.

But I know exactly what you mean about being neurotic and I am definitely neurotic, no doubt about that. Hopefully this is just me being silly about Bella and it's nothing!

Re: Should I wait or go to vet today?

Is this the dog on a steroid because of heavy season/infection?

The steroids will cause excessive drinking and urination.

Antibiotics make many dogs have loose stools.

So a quick call to the vet may put your mind at ease as these could be normal side-effects of the medications she was prescribed.

Sorry if I am confusing you with another poster.
