Sid has a swollen eye

After taking my dog for a walk this morning I noticed his eyebrow was all swollen, he looks like his been in the ring with Mike Tyson.

We went straight off to the vet as soon as they were open and they said both eyes are very red and he has obviously scratched it with his paw causing it to swell. The vet thinks he has an allergy a bit like hayfever. Poor Sid. He had to have an injection to reduce swelling and has eye drops. That was nearly 3 hrs ago and his eye is still quite swollen.

Re: Sid has a swollen eye

My Oscar had something similar - though it was his ears that were affected. The best advice i got was to find some locally produced honey - that way it has been made by the local bees which cause the allergy and give him some every day and it creates a bit of an immunity - worked for Oscar and the hubby who also has hayfever!

Re: Sid has a swollen eye

Make sure that the honey come from within 20 miles of your address as it'll have more of the 'local' pollen in it and try to get it as unprocessed as possible - thats the advice for humans who have hayfever, so would imagine that it's the same for a dog.
