castration - when is the best time?

hi
We have decided to get our pup castrated - he is 10 month old staffie and has had skin problems so we wont be breeding him and it seems his show career is over before it starts ... so looks like he will have to settle for a life on the couch being spoilt. we also have just introduced a bitch to the house so will be much easier

i know he can technically be done straight away but when is the best time to get it done - most important thing is his health and i wasnt sure if its better to let him mature a bit more before getting it done

also, what r the benefits of castration? apart from the obvious!

thanks
becky

Re: castration - when is the best time?

People do differ on their beliefs here, as do vets, in my opinion when he has reached full maturity, with a BM I do no know when that will be would imagine around 15 months.

Hi
The picture on my signature is my new pup Bella, she is a DDB. I cant get the picture of my staffie loaded (internet too slow at home) so will need to add it from work (naughty naughty!) on wednesday so i have both of them ... because getting them to sit nicely together and smile is an impossibility

IMO when he's fully mature in mind and body which I'm led to believe is anywhere between 18 months -3 years old for an SBT.
