Nervous Greyhound Im Fostering

i looking after a Greyhound that i saw in the kennels yesterday. he is really nervous. i felt sorry for him he was laying in his bed to scared to come and say hi. He is fine when he is laying down but once he is outside the front door he wont move a inch. is there any thing i can give him to help

well done for rescueing the greyhound just keep talkiing and fussing him don,t worry about the walks just yet let him get used to his new home and garden for the first few days i have had them like that it just takes a bit of time it is very rewarding in the end when they do come round you have saved his life some pine away in kennels ,is he eating ok ,if you need any more help send me pm or email address i,ve had lots of experience with greyhounds we used to race them a few years ago so any help you need just get intouch

He needs time to adjust. Remember, most likely this dog won't know anything other than a kennel and a racetrack. Talk to him gently and don't rush him. When he does go, make a fuss (not overly so, you don't want to frighten him more!), and gradually he will calm down.

I know what you're going through, when we first got our greyhound girl it took about an hour and a half to get her out the car, and days for her to come outside. She got there in the end though, and it was so rewarding!

remember everything will be strange to him racing greyhounds are not used to being on their own they are usually kenneled with another dog and not used to being on their own

hes not on his own i got 2 whippets both girls and they are loving having a greyhound in there home again, are other greyhound died in feb after 11 wonderful years together.

When I first had William he wa not on his own I also had whippets but he didn't settle until he had one of his own kind to be with. Not that he didn't like the whippets he did but they just were not the same as him. I know it sounds daft as he had company but William had servere seperation anxiety. Now he hs Button he is a lot better not perfect by a long stra but he is better than he was
