Re: Help with my bitch please

One of my dogs has a season every 4 months - checked with vet and it is quite common in small breeds.

It sounds like a phantom pregnancy - one of my friends has tried homopathic remedy due to this which has helped a lot

Re: Help with my bitch please

are you reali sure that she's not pregnant in the first place? has there been any chance when you've left her alone without your presence... coz i've met many owners who are so darn sure her dog's not pregnant, but after 2 months - woo hoo... we have a bountiful cute pups rejoicing.

If you're so very sure that she's never been mounted - it's most likely psedu/phantom pregnancy then. All the signs are similar to a pregnant dog, but with no puppies. you can't really differentiate from real pregnantcy physically - your vet will suggest xray or ultrasound to confirm.

And if you want to spay your dog - this is definitely not the time to spay her - coz spaying her during this time will prolong and exacerbate her pseudo-pregnancy.

Go visit the vet! =)

Re: Help with my bitch please

A friend of mines bitch was showing exactly the same symptoms you describe and she was 2000% certain she hadn't been mated so treated it as a phantom pregnancy (low protein diet etc) and she came back from work one afternoon to find 4 healthy pups suckling off mum in the airing cupboard!!

Still did never figure out who daddy was
