Lump under nipple (male dog)

My 11 year old lab has develped an red longish lump under one nipple. He had been chewing it and it got infected. The vet felt it may have been a grass seed or some irritant which had gone under the skin and he had caused a lick sore. A course of antibiotics later the skin is healed but the lump is still there. It now looks like a scar. It doesnt appear to be annoying him anymore and he seems his usual self.

I am loathed to take another trip to the vets as he has been lots of times recently for kennel cough, his heart condition and his arthritis. Of course i will if needs be but wondered if anyone knew if this was maybe an ageing thing or if anyone has had something similar with their dog?
Thanks
GIlly
