Papillon grooming?

I am considering getting a papillon when i am finally allowed a dog. Do they require trimming very often? If so, are they difficult to groom at home and how do you do it?

Re: Papillon grooming?

Hiya! Yes their coats do need quite a lot of maintenance as they are long haired. If you are looking for a dog that is small , easy maintenance and friendly then pugs, beagles and english bulldogs are gorgeous!

hope this helps x

They do not need a lot of maintenance, despite being long haired it is a single coat. Which is very very easy to care for.
It requires no trimming unless you wanted to do between the paws.
A short daily brush through the coat will keep it in tip top condition.

Re: Papillon grooming?

Mmmm does make you wonder
As my mum has 6 Paps who i see daily, i know that they are easy to look after coat wise. A daily brush (especially ear fringeing/legs to avoid knots ) is all they require. Its a 5 min job.

I spose it does depend on the dog but as mum has shown them for years its part of the daily routine from puppyhood........even as little balls of fluff they get their daily stand on table and brush

Only trimming to be done is bottom of feet which we do when they have nails cut.

They are not bathed anymore than anyother dog although i must admit it does take a little longer to dry
