Ive just finished a dog grooming course and have now bought all my equipment to go out and start grooming by myself. Ive decided to set up a mobile business where I will actually go into people's houses to do the grooming. Ive never set up my own business before so I wondered if people could tell me what I need to actually do! For example, do I need insurance for this type of business? Are there any legal requirements for setting up a business like this or can I just get out there straight away?

What course did you do? The Dog Grooming City and Guilds Level 3 provides a lot of practical and theoretical training on how to run your business. I'm surprised your tutor didn't cover these subjects.

Dog Groomers sadly are not regulated meaning anyone with a pair of kitchen scissors can give us a bad reputation! (A personal bug-bear of mine!!) IMO your best course of action would be to contact your local council and they will help you to follow the correct procedures to set up your business in your area.

Running your own business requires some dedication and determination.

I could offer a few useful pointers but as the OP has not been on the site for a week I can't be bothered either.
