It seems you thought I was laughing at you, No, it was the poster after me. I merely enquired if you really use fabric conditioner!!! However, after discussing this with many others, I found NOT ONE person who would use this on their dogs. Dog products for dogs all the way for me. ![]() |

Re: Surely this can't be right?
I am not experienced with any dog hair other than poodle wool hair.. but on show coats, or any long coats we generally dont dry brush, but 'line brush' (brush sections of hair individually) spraying lightly with a dilute conditioner, creme rinse or specific brushing spray.
I tend to use pin brushes, without balls on the ends, and a metal 'greyhound' comb. if you are really having problems, maybe send an email to the CC club of GB for q's? |

Re: Surely this can't be right?
This may sound Daft but sometimes it's the WAY you groom...I've found that lots of people Brush the Top of the coat and forget about the underneath.
It's easier to show than explain I hold the coat up from the bottom of lets say a leg and brush the undercoat 1st.So hold the coat up with one hand and brush from the skin downwards and then you've brushed the full length of the coat. Otherwise the dogs coat will look perfectly ok to the eye but when you feel the Coat you've got Matt's underneath. Everything else as been mentioned above make sure you have got the correct equipment a good slicker brush is a must. plus De-tangle sprays conditioners and dematting rakes combs etc. I'd persevere with this if you really do not want your Dogs coat to be Clipped down.
