Good quality brush for Bichon?

I tried asking this in Dog Chat but didn't get any response so I thought I'd try the Grooming section.

I've got this Mikki Ball Pin slicker brush for Poppy

which does the job well enough but now it's starting to loose some of its pins. I've had it about a year but thought it should last longer than that.

Can anyone recommend a better quality one please.

Hiya,

A slicker is the best you could use for a bichon

I really like the Rosewood's 'soft protection' range. They are great quality and used in the salon too.

Re: Good quality brush for Bichon?

I like Les Pooches slicker/brush. I have the light green one and it's so easy to get knots out with but also really gentle. My dog used to hate the slicker so much that I used a comb until I found these. A friend advised I try it but i honestly didnt believe it could get knots out that easily and painlessly until she let me borrow hers.

They're not cheap, about £25 for a small one, but they are durable and worth their weight in gold!

Just google search Les Poochs brush.

And, if you have money to burn, they're a doggie designer. Anyone fancy some gold plated grooming scissors at £400 a pair?

Thanks for the recommendation. Is it the single head one you have as I see they do a double headed one too.

I think I'll give the gold plated scissors a miss .

$45??

My slicker cost about £6, wide tooth metal comb £4-5, fine metal comb £1. Everything I need and exactly the same as we use day in day out at college.

Re: Good quality brush for Bichon?

My new groomer has just ordered me the Les Pooch brush, it cost £27 but it's worth every penny. I have wasted so much money buying useless brushes for my Bichon. It's the green, single headed brush, totally fab.

Re: Good quality brush for Bichon?

I would recommend Les Poochs as well, we have the green one & the matt zapper for our cockapoos & they're really good.

Re: Good quality brush for Bichon?

I use the mikki Rake first, then the matt splitter and then the slicker, use the one without the bobbly bits on it as it seems more effective on penny but whilst learning to use them penny had to put up with being a little thinner on top lol, I could live without any of the other things in her grooming bag but these 3 along with the hair drier are a must, I also have a small slicker for her legs as they need to be brushed up and not down so can be really tricky with a normal sized slicker

Re: Good quality brush for Bichon?

I use the mikki rake on my sheltie but I never thought about using it on my Bichon, I thought it would harm her coat, thanks for that I might give it a go and see if she'll tolerate it.
