Re: Whippet WANTED in the kent area

Good luck on your search. Im afraid I cant help out but as Fudge's previous owner I just wanted to say how happy I am that his new 'mum' is so thrilled with him.
He is a truly lovely boy, Im not surprised she wants more.

Re: Whippet WANTED in the kent area

Dont think travel is a problem

But as fudge was rehomed to her she is only looking at spending £200-£250 or free to good home like fudge was

Re: Whippet WANTED in the kent area

She needs to be vary carefull taking on a bitch if she already has 2 dogs. A friend of mine has 2 half brothers and took on their younger half sister. All are sired by the same dog. Now she is having trouble with the 2 males fighting. They are both castrated and the bitch is speyed. She is now having to rehome one of the males

She has 5 other dogs already and they get on great ,Thats why she thought it would be better to get a bitch and not another dog

Do you think it will be ok Helen

Re: Whippet WANTED in the kent area

It depends on the dogs Mikey and Flash were only seperated for a couple of months as their owners first had Flash and then had Mikey a few months later. They did have a few squabbles before Trixie arrived but nothing serious. Since Trixie has been there Mikey has go very dominant towards Flash. I think it could have been nipped in the bud but Mikey has been allowed to get very dominant. He is now being rehomed. In fact I will be accompanying his owners in taking him to a new home this weeekend. Yes they are whippets and yes I did breed all 3.

My 2 stud dogs have been known to clash over a bitch normally if she is due in season but it was stopped before it was allowed to get serious and now they are fine even when the bitches are in season. I think it can depend also on the owners. If they do not allow this kind of behaviour things will be ok. Mikey and Flash's owner has fone everything they can but are worried about the dogs getting together when they are not at home. They don't like the idea if using a crate all the time they want the dogs to live happily together without having to worry all the time which is why Mikey has now found a lovely home.

Having bitches and dogs together at home I have found that a bitch will always be the dominant one.

Re: Whippet WANTED in the kent area

I should think myself lucky

I have never had a row between my girls even when i go over my mums house and she has a male whippet and 3 greyhounds 1male 2 female

They all get on so well

I know my friend has some kennels that some of the dogs go in (i think)
I know that she has a bit of land so the dogs have lots of room and she said they get on very well together

And she takes them out in the evening for 1-2 sometimes 3 hours for a run
