Re: german shepherd for stud

I agree, that would be a really good idea, Brainless gave me a couple of links which I found very helpful, sometimes its difficult to find things when you don't know exactly what you are looking for. Perhaps we could do a page on toilet training too as that question comes up again and again.

Health Testing - what tests different breeds require before breeding.

Looked at the link, could you elaborate what the headings should contain.

The Kennel club have several articles on responsible breeding, and there are some really good articles around on the net several of which I keep as favourites, obviously they would need linking to avoid plagiarism?.
The page currently just has the standard headings, this could be changed very easily to have any appropriate headings. Yes, I think it should be a joint effort, if someone starts by writing as much as they can, other people can add to it if they have any useful and factual info that improves the articles.

Yes, the article shouldnt be a copy of any other on the internet, it need to be written in peoples own words, and where it quotes an existing article, website or any other material then a link should be added in the reference section at the end. Also if there or any other useful websites with information on any testing or other things then a link should be adding in the 'External Links' section.

Yes great idea, I created the Pet Encyclopedia for our users to contribute their knowledge and also because a lot of the same questions get asked over and over and instead of the answers getting lost in the forums, articles can be written to address these common questions. If anyone wants to create an article then please go ahead. Theirs an editors guide in the encyclopedia here which should help on using the encyclopedia :

http://www.petforums.co.uk/encyclopedia/Editors_Guide

Any questions just pm me or create a new thread in the 'Pet Encyclopedia Discussion Area' forum.

Cheers
Mark

Re: german shepherd for stud

There seems to be a stern opinion on the subject of stud dogs which has created a bit of conflict recently between a couple of members.
I would just like to point out (in a friendly way) that this shouldnt become another thread for voicing opinions.
To be honest it has put me off of adding info on that particular subject so I will leave that for now but I have added some info of my own in the Bull Terrier and Bullmastiff sections, hope this helps get things started.
Kind regards.

Yes I had noticed this and thats why I am asking for an article to be wrote about it, rather than repeating the same thing over and over again in the forums. Also, everyone has different opinions about different subjects and certain opinions shouldnt be forced on everyone.

I dont want the article to contain peoples opinions, I just want it to be a factual document which will be beneficial for anyone thinking about offereing their dog out at stud.

Bullbreeds, I had noticed that you added some content to 2 of our breed profile pages, just wanted to say many thanks for taking the time and effort to help our community grow

Information added to the Pet Encyclopedia will be read my thousands if not millions of people over time, good information and articles will make a real difference in the community and will be beneficial to our less knowledgeable visitors.

Cheers
Mark

Re: german shepherd for stud

Hi,

Ok to get things started, I have done a little research in to this subject and have come up with various section heaings a little information.

Everyone is invited to add to it with useful information and even photos, please feel free to change the section headings or add new ones as appropriate.

Re: german shepherd for stud

Hi Sallyanne,

I have create the article outline and I noticed bullbreeds has added some information to it. Anyone else who can approve the current article with useful information is very welcome to update it themselves. The bext thing about the pet encyclopedia, is that it is a collective effort by all our members and all members are encouraged to contribute if they can make an improvement.

As for your suggestion for the other article, that is a great idea. I will create an outline document for this sometime soon unless someone else with a better knowledge volunteers to start it?? as I have never owned any dogs, so any info by me would be what I have researched (when I have time).

Thanks
Mark
