What happenes if they do get out and are involved in an accident or run away etc - I think its a must to microchip!

What if you have a dog which crys if left outside your gate and wont step a foot away from the house without you, we can leave the gates open and mango doesnt go anywhere shes much more intrested in staying with me and getting under my feet lol, then do you still think its a must? I think its down to the nature of your dog

Re: Microchip or not?

Emma - I still do yes - there are many things that could happen - sounds like you have a lovely shadow there and how loyal Mango must be - it would still bother me her not being traceable if the unfortunate happened

Re: Microchip or not?

I had shawnee chipped when she had her first injections - she never even noticed it happening she was to interested in the smells of the surgery

It gives me peace of mind to know that if she did ever get out or was stolen she is traceable

So if the microchip moves around how do they find it with the scanner? o do they go all over their body lol.

Do they inject it into the back of the neck? in the same area they have their vaccinations?

I'm going to get Foxy done.

Yes they will scan all over the body to see if there is a chip. I once found a stray Westie and when I took him to be scanned his chip was in his bottom

They do inject into the beck of the neck where they have their jabs. Probably best to do as a pup as they have so much more baggy excess skin to work with
