The Importance of Testing

I thought I would post this link to underline how important testing is before planning on breeding.

Parbeau kennels UK Home of Staffordshire Bull Terriers & Bulldogs |

Could you cope with a puppy or dog that had this dreadful condition that there is no cure for,Be honest could you?
It can be controlled, this doesn't always work.
Is it fair to the dog concerned?
Do you think it's fair to the new owner to have to cope with a dreadful disease that with careful consideration, planning and testing could have been prevented.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is take a step back and if you are planning or are going to breed PLEASE TEST.

I cannot even imagine what it would be like having to own & live with a pet that has this condition
I only have one word & it must be....well.....awful

I cannot point out either how important it is to heart test Bulldogs - many don't bother - I've lived with a Bulldog that we weren't aware had a heart condition until he sadly passed away at less than a year old

Re: The Importance of Testing

Poor lad,saw him at a club champ show a while back, the ignorant remarks i heard
We were told that he was going to be there so people can see that its a real disease that can affect any Stafford, but i still heard people saying "look at that poor thing, shouldnt be here, should be put down"

How ignorant just because he will never be a show dog, doesnt make him any less valuable as a pet.

The puppy that came to our ringcraft was un-registered, so its not just Champion stock.

Disgusting that still people decide that they wont test as it wont happen to them

I will never let my dog be used on a bitch that wasnt tested,it would be devastating to have the bitch take her first fit while being mated or having her pups
