No, those stories are printed because these these are the attacks that kill. I do remember years ago a baby killed by a JR and that was reported in the paper. By the nature of their size when a small dog attacks it does far less damage, if the owner is with it at the time they can just pick it up or drag it off, be fair you cant do this with a big, heavy dog. I am not disputing the number of attacks.
Dont get me wrong here, I think the large breeds are magnificent, beautiful in fact, but in the WRONG HANDS very dangerous.

That's just it - needs to be the other way around. The dog should be asked to do something to earn its favours/meals/treats/cuddles, even a simple sit or down command. Otherwise the owner becomes the owned

Maybe that's why, generally speaking, these small dogs become aggresive - because they are tiny some people spoil them, even treat them like babies! All dogs are easy to love, but all should be allowed to be a dog.

These stories are printed and go to press without the FULL facts,it's always the dogs fault, the bull breeds and larger breeds never fail to make the press.

Most of the time they don't get the breed correct, the media do an awful lot of damage to certain breeds, with rescues picking up the pieces because owners think a dog will suddenly turn on their children, because they have read it in the paper.
The most common breeds for bites are spaniels, labs and collies, yet these very rarely make press, why because it doesn't have the impact of a SBT,Pitt,or Rottie for example!
All dogs have the potential to be dangerous, all dogs of any breed can bite and kill.

The last 3 fatal attacks were preventable, the dogs were left unsupervised with children, whose fault was it, it was the Parents fault yet the dogs paid the ultimate price with their lives, yet it still happens kids are been left alone with dogs, when are these people going to wake up!!!

Not all the stories in the press are about fatal attacks, if it involves a Rottweiler or a Pitbull "type" it's in there regardless of the extent of the damage. Yes these dogs are capable of causing more damage but this thread is about the most aggressive dogs, the dogs that are most likely to bite not the extent of the damage done.

I doubt the dog is actually at fault very often, it really saddens me to see all these dogs pts before it even hits the news. Why do they never want to find out what happened first? Probably because they know what crappy owners they really are and don't want that splashed across the news too.

Exactly Alan,
I have been bitten,by a lab cross,so was my little bitch pup,6 months old,it was been restrained by a 7 yr old child who had no control of the dog and dropped the lead while the owner was too busy chatting with her friend.I did tell her exactly what I thought and how irresponsible she was by letting her child handle a dog that was too powerful for him.I aso sent the police to have a word.
Tom got bit by a GSD,it lunged at him and bit his arm,he ended up at A&E with stitches again the owner got an ear bashing and the police sent around.

Only dog I've ever been bitten by is a English Springer Spaniel. Only dog my brother had ever been bitten by is a Rough Collie.

Re: Dashund - Most Aggressive Dog In The World?!

small dogs are usually only aggressive coz people don't think they have to train them. I spent a lot of time socialising my chihuahua coz Im abit of a hermit, and don't know any kids at all. Well after a lot of effort he is now totally bomb proof with people and will happily let complete strangers of any age pick him up for a cuddle. Even when a toddler squeezed him too hard yesterday and made him cry he still came back to her for more fuss!
I now have a 6wk old min daschhund/chihuahua which according to press should be like the terminator in doggy form
