Hello, I just want to say thank you to all those who posted to my thread 'Advice Please Possible Adoption' - really weird though I cannot find the thread and I am sure it was on this forum! It would seem someone has deleted all the posts from 3rd June to date?? Anyway, we met Ruby today, and after much deliberation we have decided not to rehome her. Although she was a truely lovely well mannered dog, her issue with cats was quite a big problem amongst other things. I know most problems can be sorted out but we felt that it was unfair on Ruby and our cats to bring her home. It was such a hard decision as she would make a fantastic companion, and even this evening I started thinking whether we had made the right decision, I guess when you meet the dog your heart rules your head. Anyway, we will continue our search and I know in time we will find the right dog. So thanks to all who helped me as your advice was extremely valuable. Ali

it sounds like a tough decision - but much better to NOT rehome an unsuitable dog, then to feel guilty, take it on, then have to rehome it again because it doesnt work out - too many dogs get passed from pillar to post because people adopt them without thinking it through properly - much respect to you xxx

Although you feel guilty its the best decision to make - she will find a suitable home soon enough and you will find the suitable dog soon enough too

You made the right decision no doubt about it, and JR's are very popular Im sure he will be rehomed soon.

I had the same problem when I was looking for a rescue as I have a cat also. Its best to rule out any that dont already live with cats.
