Re: cats and labs

Im guessing from your other thread that you are getting a rescue dog. Has he/she been cat tested?

Theres no reason they can't get on and accept each other. All my cats were adults when i got my first dog, and they all get on extremely well now. It just has to be done at the cats pace, and in a controlled way.

When introducing them, have the dog on a lead, and give the cat somewhere high to sit, and a means of escape. It does take time.

Yep as nonnie says
Just make sure the dog Can't chase the cat and reward for sitting calmy
I got kittens when my dog was a year and they got on great also introduced them to a rotti who was 3 and had never met cats close up it did take time- mostly training him to be careful! but they did get on fine

Re: cats and labs

Hi there! I have a golden lab who is 1 year and 4 months old, we also have two cats, all 3 animals are male, we had the lab first then when he was 11 months old we had the kittens, and it was the best thing we done! they are brilliant company for my lab, he absolutely loves them! and they love him! at first one of the kittens used to hiss at the lab (who never responded with anger) that was for couple of days, now their bestest of friends! Here is my youngest kitten sleeping on my lab!
