How do you know no one is doing anything or being pro active?

You can act and have a moan at the same time.

Re: The sun newspaper--killer dogs

I dont blame the paper for this as it is going on I live on the edge of an estate and the amount of tyres that are hung in trees to train there dogs also the local childrens play area they use the seats of the swings to also train there dogs, then there is the fact that these gangs do not fight each other but instead use the poor dogs to fight each other. The government should be pulling out all the stops to sort out these idiots, for the sake of decent dog owners and most important the bullterrier breed itself,it is hard unless you live in an area where the youths, drug dealers are rampant to understand just how out of control this is.My dogs have to be driven out of the area I would not walk them in this area sad to say as we have loads of open space but with ropes and tyres hanging from the trees and dogs being worked into a frenzy on the end of them

People are writing letters to the Goverment, local Mp's etc... also some high profile bullterrier walks are being planned .. one hopefully to the houses of parliment...also people have been in touch with the journalist who wrote this article and he has said he is willing to listen to the other side of the story regarding these dogs..Lisa who runs Bulliesos(bullie rescue) has also invited him to her home to meet some of these dogs that end up in rescue

So where do you want to hear it from? If it came from a BBC report would us viewers of the BBC then be branded stupid and niave for watching the 6'oclock news like readers of the Sun have been in this thread?

bit of a sun bashing day today it seems purely because they published a story highlighting exactly what is happening right now on certain estates, from some view points but all they did was print what was said, (well I believe it was what was said, but then I'm stupid because I read it) if they didn't do things like this then nobody would know what was going on and then when government proposals are formed people would have no idea why. The fact that some public turn on responsible dog owners purely because they see a breed on their own street that they saw in the Sun and are now terrified of it is not the fault of the paper, that is more those certain puplic/readers being niave about dogs.

eye dant c why I'm stewpic cuz Iz reedz tha sun ragz?

Edit: although I do accept that they could maybe include alot more information within the reports about how the breed isn't to blame and maybe highlight various good points about reponsible owners that surround most readers around the country.

First I don't believe I have called you stupid

this is what I have written.
You are clearly very offended with me stating people that read /believe the Sun are incapable of having an opinion. Well, I will correct it to the majority of people who read the Sun, etc... hopefully that feels less then an attack to you. I have no object to the reading of the paper I have an objection to believing in the paper.

The BBC and Government pick on things the public feels outraged as a result of what papers like the Sun publish and, mostly, how they choose to put them across. So that every asylum seeker lives in a mansion, every hoodie is a thug, and now every bull breed is a child slaughterer. Beside sensational revelation of who s***ging who in the B listers world tell me what decent piece of information we can rely this tabloid on having provided us with. Now there might be some as I don't actually read it so feel free to correct me.

I fully appreciate that there are morons out there and I fully appreciate that some of these morons carry knives and some have dogs as knives. I don't believe for a second most of them portrayed do. As a result of the scaremongering, to which I am not immune, I do cross the road if a dubious youngster with a dubious menacing looking dog is in my path and I have my dog with me. But believe you me I actually give them the benefit of the doubt and if I get no hassle from the individual and his dog next time I am happy to stay on path. Such ability to distinguish reality from "The Sun" reality is mostly lacking in our society. As a result of given article every body seem to want to cross the street from any bull terrier today. What good is in that or we only chant deed, not breed when we want to feel liberal?

The only piece worth my attention in that article was when they said about bringing legislation and fines, but they are not going to comply. Really didn't need the Sun to tell me that, although clearly some do...

Sorry if I offended you.

Doesn't the whole article and especially the pictures seem incredibly staged?

Re: The sun newspaper--killer dogs

I thought everyone already knew about the Sun's scaremongering tactics, attempts to incite the public and pandering to the lowest common denomenator in order to sell papers???
Doesnt mean they dont pick up the flavour of public opinion though..

No offence taken, I didn't mean to imply that you had called me stupid for reading the Sun, I can see how it came across that way but although I had used your quote with my post I wasn't meaning that aimed at you.

It would have helped if they had included in the article, information on the breeds used by these drug dealing estate yobs and highlighted the behaviour of dogs that are not abused. I can see leaving that out was a deliberate act as it doesn't make for as interesting reading. On reflection I can see how the knock on affects of the article may have been what they were intending.
