Re: Third Party Insurance

Thank you for that link.

I think the Dogs Trust will suddenly get an influx of membership sooner my money go to a charity than these money grabbing insurance companies that the Government will suggest or will jump on the band wagon.

Some household policies cover 3rd party liability.

Re: Third Party Insurance

Talking of insurance I am really struggling to get my new dog insured for 3rd party liability - we got her from the dogs home and told that she had previously attacked a cat. Because of that she is considered a vicious dog even though she hasn't shown any further vicious behaviour. Is there anywhere that anyone can recommend to get fully comprehenisve cover including vet bills and 3rd party liability for dogs like this. thanks

Smorgus will become famous soon enough
Re: Third Party Insurance

Just to pitch in, this new dog tax they are implementing (because that's exactly what it is) will force insurance premiums up sky high when/if it becomes a legal requirement as the insurance companies will have us all cornered, very much like car insurance.

Secondly, all home and contents insurance covers any damage caused by your pet as the policies contain public liability cover.

Thirdly, let's wait and see how long it will take before peoples dogs will get attacked by passers by in hopes their dog retaliates with a bite so they can claim compensation on the insurance.

And finally, my hearts will go out to all those extra abandoned dogs and all the elderly people who struggle to make ends meet on there state pensions who won't be able to afford their new dog tax resulting in more homeless pets and lonely pensioners being denied a companion.

Thanks new labour

Smile Re: Third Party Insurance

WTG Nonnie for putting it up as a sticky!

I made myself a member this morning, not because I am scared this law WILL come in as it is proposed but because I thought well, what if one of mine zipped out of the gate or something, ran into the road and caused an accident? Or tripped someone up when out walking? I doubt any of them would bite anyone so that was not my worry but we now live in a 'claims direct' society where people are more likely to sue.

Also, the Canine Care Card service attracted me. Quote from site -
The Canine Care Card is a free service that guarantees that Dogs Trust will take care of your dog in the event of your death. So in the event of both OH and I departing this earth, my dogs could find new homes via the Dogs Trust unless of course my family took them into theirs if they had space.

Plus of course, there is the WAG magazine 3 times a year too as well as other benefits!

Yes it is but for some of us who cannot get our dogs covered by conventional insurance for various reasons its a very good scheme, especially considering it covers up to 10 dogs in the home so for me I get my 5/6 dogs covered for £20 AND support a charity too!

I'm with you Caroline I've joined so my lot are covered, they said it does also cover visiting dogs too so helps with peace of mind when I'm looking after friends dogs and the fosters.
