Can a dog be seized today when the owner takes their dog for a walk. Would an owner know that a warrant is being sought.

Is it part of the legislation that the dog is returned to you after the verdict dead or alive or was that another blunder.

I only became aware of the DDA 3 years ago in the vets surgery waiting for Duke's first vaccination and BSL when I joined this forum. I didn't realise dogs were seized on a whim and to add insult to injury the dogs are not even given basic care.

I really feel I want to know where these torturous kennels are to name and shame the managers and staff.

Hi Sue,
It's awful isn't it ?
Unfortunatly Tyler's Story isn't an isolated case
To answer your question yes a dog can be seized when walking out in public, the burden of proof is then reversed meaning your guilty, you have to then prove your dog isn't of "type",Pitbull or Dangerous.

If they call at a property it is slightly different, you can ask them to get a warant and above all you DO NOT sign anything as you will have ultimatly signed your dogs death warent.

You will find lots more info at this site Deed Not Breed - Home

Alot of organsiations are fighting hard against BSL,it's unjust, unfair and does not solve the problem of Irresponsible Owners or "Dangerous Dogs".

I have made an offical complaint about my pets treatment (or lack of it in this case) to the Police Complaints Commision

If any members have had their pets seized then please join and get your friends to also, as something must be done about this abuse.

To Tylers owners, my heart goes out to you for this poor animal..my pet too would have died if we hadnt have got him back sooner. nearly 4 months in total.. Please contact me if you would be so kind.

Re: Tyler's Story (Sad)

I don't get it. Why are people being so stupid? I mean seriously, they are just going to attack more and more breeds until we are left with none. I looked up the history on the pitbull. It said that the pure pitbull was very strong but did nothing when their owners wanted the dog to fight. Then they had terriers which did fight but it was over in a matter of seconds because the size of the breed. So they bred the pitbull with the terrier and that's where you get the pitbull terrier. Also, it is not the dogs fault for how it looks. It may be the most well behaved dog in the world but I have heard about cases, just by the way it looked, it was euthanised. My heart goes out to anyone who had lost their dog due to this act.
