Re: puppy-buying: How do we get buyers to *practice* being responsible?

Well if you can prove you aren't going to whisk it away to relatives for the duration.... or your fellow students aren't going to come round to party and drunkenly stick a paper hat on the pup.... or relatives won't invade and take over.... then why not?

Problem is, the 'norm' over the Xmas period is the antithesis of what a new puppy needs. Can't blame people for thinking that..... Personally, I've had loads of Xmases that would have been perfect for a new puppy... but it's not quite the average. It's not easy to persuade people you can't, won't and/or don't have the average. Average is average...

(Plus they might tend to think you're a bit weird, which also doesn't help them to think you could be a great puppy owner.... sorry, but it's true.)

Even though I have had loads of un-average Christmasses myself, it would still take a great deal to convince me that any kitten or pup would be OK going to a new home at that time of year, no matter what the new owners promised. I'd rather wait and let it go after.
