Re: Gundog Training/Tracking
I've been looking at the Gundog Club online, they have courses (group and one-to-one) as well as taster sessions. I haven't done it yet as I'm saving up for a course, plus my dogs recall needs more work first, so I don't know how good they are...
Training Your Gundog I also think you might be able to find gundog classes through APDT trainers, if you try their website for trainers local to you, it should list what activities they teach, whether agility or gundog. |

Re: Gundog Training/Tracking
Rona, that's amazing. ollie would love to do that. how i would love to be able to have him as trained as those dogs. i don't get what the dog in the rabbit pen is trying to achieve though. what are the piles of sticks for?

Re: Gundog Training/Tracking
The sticks are for the rabbits to get under and the dog to have a focus for working. You don't want too much cover because the dog may catch the rabbit.
It is the ultimate steadiness training, dogs do not normally go into a rabbit pen until they are almost fully trained. The idea is to bolt a rabbit and have the dog sit as soon as the rabbit moves ![]() |
