the kennels was converted stables i think..... outdoors, but they was heated and under cover and from what i could see... clean
it sounds like it is pretty easily spread - either via direct contact with another dog or from carrying it from one dog to another via a human...here is some more info on it: Sarcoptic Mange

have a look at the lifecycle times of it...you might be able to work out where your dog contracted it from...if you work back you may be able to point out to the kennels he got it there and try and reclaim some money from them or something?

il call them up tomorrow and get some more, oh and with my vet... they charge a £20 fee everytime you take a animal there.... even if there is no treatment given is that normal?
yes sounds about right! mine is £28 for a consultation

you can call them and say that you looked online and it says more than one treatment of it is needed so you need another vial - and you shoudlnt have to go back in, you should just be able to pick it up from the reception etc and pay for that on its own...

it would have been in a white box because instead of selling it in the normal boxes (minimum of x3 in a normal complete pack), so it would have been one of the vet plain boxes with the little label on it for administration.

thats bad actually though as they should provide the information leaflet with it in case for instance your dog had an allergic reaction! or you were treating for something else that has adverse affects with it!

Re: My poor dog has a skin problem

From the pictures you have posted this isn't typical for sarcoptic mange. Usually these dogs will be itchy mostly on the ear margins and behind the elbows and hocks, although it still is possible.

This sounds like a tough case. Usually any skin problem can be treated with antibiotics, steroids and a good flea/tick medicine.

You may need to have your vet do a biopsy of the area. This will be a little pricey (in my office it's around $300 Canadian) but it is definitely the best thing to do when a dog is not responding to the normal treatments.

I really hope all is well!

Dr. Marie.
