6 - Shetland Sheepdog

7 - Chow Chow
8 - Presa Canario
9 - Boxer
10 - Dalmation
Mmm- who wrote these lists?

I don't mind the intelligence list because it leaves me feeling quite smug
There have been various studies and case studies investigating intelligence in specific breeds:
BBC NEWS | Science/Nature | Collie dog's word power impresses
The Top 10 Most Intelligent Dogs | Itchmo: News For Dogs & Cats
Dog Intelligence on Par with Two-Year-Old Humans; Border Collies Smartest : Discovery News

That said, I think intelligence does depend totally on the individual dog rather than solely on breed
I found this link interestingly which lists the same breeds in the "most intelligent" list
The Top 10 Smartest Dog Breeds In The World

They also have a seperate "easiest to train" list, which in case you're interested looks like this:
1. Border Collie
2. Labrador Retriever
3. Papillon
4. Beauceron
5. Pyrenean Shepherd
6. Australian Shepherd
7. Doberman
8. Belgian Shepherd (Groenendael variety)
9. Toy Poodle
11. Australian Cattle Dog
10 Easiest To Train Dog Breeds

The dangerous list especially looks pants How did they calculate the rating?? Bet they didn't... bet it was a case of "which are the breeds that ATM are portrayed as being dangerous by the media"...

I think you've got to take all these list things with a pinch of salt!

My turn to feel smug: mine's a cross between No.1 and No.8.... but takes a lot more after No.8.
Though I am far from smug - when these breeds go wrong, they do go wrong.... and mine's really a little sod!

Re: 10 most smart, stupid and dangerous...

The real top 10 most dangerous would have to include the CO, Kangal, Neo Mastiff, Presa, Bully Kutta ect surely ? Only thanks to there size, power and the dogs being used as "fighting" dogs i think. I dont understand why the likes of dalmations and chows was on there, crazyyy. I would rather a Chow Chow attack then a Kangal anydayyyyyyy

Re: 10 most smart, stupid and dangerous...

Chow are very grupy and dallies from stats seem to have biting issue sometimes. I think they've just picked on the media hate breeds. The best version of the "hyped" dangerous dogs list is:
YouTube - world's most dangerous dogs list
Half of those aren't even dangerous

Yeah thats true but my logic is if a Chow Chow attacks you, you might have a nasty bite on the leg. Where as if a CO or a Kangal attacks you, you could well die or be disfigured for life, so a no brainer to see which is more dangerous there :P
