hi,
i recognised the rankings yesterday, and i am looking at finding the original article from where they come from...(without luck so far)
what i remember though, is that they appeared in journal of American Animal Psychology a few years back (and the author is an esteemed animal psychologist)...
i also remember that the paper was somehow controversial...not that much for the breeds ranking as for the criteria used for the classification (as there are some different kinds of intelligence...and the author used only a limited subset of them)...
i'll keep looking, it has to be in my database somewhere...
i'll have to organise my sources sometimes...

Seems pretty nonsensical to me.
Huskies at number 4 in the most dangerous dogs??? What planet was the author living on at the time?? Dangerous to rabbits and squirrels maybe.

The "intelligent" list isn't about "intelligence" at all, but as someone else has pointed out, "obedience." I've been around dogs for 6 decades and I've never come across more intelligent dogs than Siberian Huskies - they are frighteningly intelligent. Problem solving, independent thought - you name it they can do it. Obedience - only if it suits them.

Is that not basically all the spitz breeds though really smart but a really strong independant streak so people think they're stupid?
