Cats or No cats?

As many know I have one of my pups back. Now I was told he is cat friendly although not living with one since 8 weeks old.

Spike has no balance really and often falls off ledges, sofa or the radiator. This we noticed got buster excited and have been correcting him for running over.

He's been here since Saturday and he's just got worse with the cat. He wants to chase him anytime he moves. Spike does not like dogs and tolerates my two sometimes but he's really getting annoyed being chased after if he so much as moves.

I have had spike in my lap and buster just sit there and sniff him but if spike gets off and "runs" say to the ledge or kitchen than buster MUST chase him.

Buster has 2 scratch marks quite near his eye and still has not gotten the message. I really wondering if I should allow him to be homed with another cat? I know he means no harm but he's terrorizing my own cat.

At the moment we leave a leash on Buster so we can grab a hold of him, bring him back telling him leave and then then asking him to sit. This is working to some degree, he still is getting excited about spike though.

Ideas please?

Re: Cats or No cats?

I would home him with a cat but ONLY someone who knows and is willing to put in the training.
He doesn't sound like he wants to hurt the cat he is just young and exited.
He hasn't lived with one for so long it would be unfair to just say after a few days he doesn't like them it can take ages to train.

Dave has started getting more silly with the cats mostly he just looks at them but if they go past he has to chase them but if I tell him to leave he does.

Yeah, I think he would just have to be homed with a dog friendly cat. Spike is confident and happy to smack 'em in place but buster isn't getting the message, the nut has two near his eyes worries me so much

Hehe.
The rotti we fostered last year was like that. But as he was obsessed with food it was soo easy to teach him that siting when the cats moved = food
