I don't want to upset you David but that's just how I feel.
I totally agree I hate the idea of a dog in clothes. I think making a dog wear clothes is not letting a dog be a dog.

Re: Dog clothing

he was wagging his tail and playing with us, same as how do you know you dog enjoys you stroking him or her, you can tell when a dog is having a good time and when a dog isn't, jacks always liked dressing up, you may not agree with it but many dogs do!

Cool Re: Dog clothing

That's funny? My dogs are always wagging their tails and playing yet they are not dressed up in clothes?

A wagging tail does not always mean a dog is happy, they also wag their tail when they are nerves or uncertain.

Re: Dog clothing

I am a dog clothes hater, what worries me is how hesr dogs are treated in gerneral if they are dressed up in these stupid clothes, clothes are for humans and thats my worry that a dog is treat as a human that can be the cause or the cause of potential problems. A dog has to be treated as a dog to be truely happy, thats a fact and not my opinion.

Re: Dog clothing

I have to agree with the majority of people on this thread, I look at the dogs face & they almost always look either distressed or have that sheepish 'I don't like it, mummy, but I love you & if it makes you happy to see me like this, I'll put up with it' look. It's almost like children dressing up a doll

Exacly as its so unnatural for a dog.

My first dog had a warm waterproof coat as he had d.c.m and could not regulate his body temp and the cold, wet could literally have killed him it was that serious. My 2 now have one as we go to the local rugby club on a saturday they dont wear them while going up there but they are springers and go at it as you can imagine "full pelt" and by the time we get there they are fully warmed to say the least so when sat at the touch line for 80 mins they begin to shiver you can literally see the steam coming from them so the coat goes on just while they are stood, i think they need that and its sensible, its not a dressing up dog "thing"

proper dog coats I can understand, especially for less hardy dogs, they don't restrict any of a dog's natural instincts or movements. I'm thinking of getting a reflective one for Bob now the nights are drawing in as he's pretty difficult to see in the dark
