A Bichon fits the bill but will need ear plucking from time to time but our groomer does that for me.

Re: which type of dog do you recommend for mum???

weve just got back from the animal rescue centre where there was a lovely female jack russell 18months old. she seemed rather excited and very freindly and mum thinks shes fallen for her.
does any one have a jack russell? what are they like with other dogs, people etc?????
she was lovely, she was caught in a barb wire fence after being hit by a car so has quite a few scars on her body. we're going back there tomorrow with my two to see how they get on together.
any advice on jack russells?????

JRTs are very high energy and hyper not a good match. They're also vocal and stubborn. They can have issues with other dogs

There's one at obediance and it's like this. It doesn't really like other dogs and it never shuts up barking! Refuses to do alot of things aswell.

Agree with Nicky, very lively and stubborn, need lots of activity despite being a little dog

I leave cheaters ears to my groomer too I just trim them up as I can no longer afford to send him every 8 weeks. He let's me use the clippers on him justto keep him tidy. I biased too and think a mini schnauzer would be good for your mum.

Let's us know how you get on. Maybe an older less active rescue might suit her. Just a thought!
