Cheating with Kong

Following on from the thread about kong fillings, I just gave Otto a kong filled with mashed banana and raw carrot chunks.

He worked on it as usual for about a minute then obviously had a brain wave. He took the kong to the top of the stairs and dropped it. As the kong bounced down the stairs the filling fell out and he followed it down hoovering up before taking the kong up and dropping it again!

He had the whole kong empty within 4 repetitions. Now what am I going to give him to keep him busy?!!!

Re: Cheating with Kong

At least you had kept him busy for the duration of time while he was doing this. How long did it take? 3 mins? Perhaps for such a smart dog, you just need about 8 kongs and that should buy you 24 mins.

Re: Cheating with Kong

Try him wi a crossword or sudoku, mine find the herald one quite difficult. P.s make him do it without the dictionary. He is a clever dog though

I think the Shihtzu i had before would have just sat next to it waiting for something to happen. (i.e. frustrated me getting it out for her to eat)

Glad to see I'm not alone! He likes peanut butter kongs but tends to chew on the narrow end until he pushes it out the bottom. I think I'll have to get him a harder kong (he's got a puppy one at the min) so he can't squish the sides so much!
