After seeing the thread about what happened to Carol's dog and husband, I just wanted to share a nice walking story with you all because they seem so few and far between nowadays

...........
I had Jag out today for his usual long arvo walk (field walks are a "no go" at the moment due to the farmer not having cut the grass which is up to waist so when we play fetch I lose the bloody dog as the grass is taller than he is!) and we were doing the usual streets etc. Anyway, I saw an elderly woman walking along the pavement, she looked at us and looked a bit fearful. Admittedly I wasn't wearing a paper bag over my head lol. So Jag and I veered to the right to give her plenty of room to walk freely where she wouldn't feel nervous of Jag. She called out to me and said "Is your dog friendly?" to which I replied "Yes, he loves people and he's still only a puppy". She started to approach, so I told Jag to sit and stay, and she came up and held her hand out. Jag went up to her, sniffed her and did his level best to make her fall in love with him. The lady was lovely. She explained to me that despite being a dog owner all of her life, (although never big dogs) she was recently bitten quite badly by a dog and was now fearful, she showed me the scar which looked horrific, and then we had a lovely long chat. She thought Jag was wonderful and I think we stood there about 20 minutes talking, I learnt about her previous dogs, her foster children etc. and the whole time, he sat and gave her the soulful brown eye look bless him, apart from when he was sniffing her pockets hoping for some food lol. At the end of the conversation, she said "He is so beautiful and I will tell my husband all about him when I get home and I hope I see you out with him again". That conversation really did make my day because I do have issues walking with Jag in the respect that most pedestrians take one look at him and cross the street glaring at him the whole time, or look at me as if I shouldn't be out with a dog like "that". (Jag is large and I am tiny and only weigh 40 kilos).
I don't know that there really is any point to this thread other than to say that sometimes, really nice things happen when walking the dog, you can overcome someone else's fears, and meet some wonderful new people
