Re: Dog Attacked Help/Advice Needed!

Sorry I don't have any advice I just want to send lots of well wishes and hugs to poor little Elvis and your wifexxx

There are far too many Idiots with Staffies and are a menace to society. I had to pick my little dog up last week as a staffie came running towards her aggresively and the two moron owners sat on a bench laughing as it was trying to jump up and bite my little dog. I do not trust or like staffies one little bit. Fair enough any dog can bite and fight but not all dogs do the damage a Staffie can.

Sorry but although you have had 1 bad experience with staffies, I feel that your comment is not helpful . I understand you may not trust the dogs that you experienced, but you can not think that all staffies are like this. I have a staffy cross, he is the softest thing in the world.

I have had similar experiences with a Lab coming over aggressively towards my Patterdale Terrier, I have also come across many terriers who have been agressive to me and my dogs. It hasnt made me dislike or distrust these breeds, only to look at the owners, and have a few strong words.

At the end of the day it is the irresponsible owners and breeders that shouldnt be truseted or liked, not the breed.

I hope your lil guy and wife feel better and can life can get back to normal as much as possible.

Re: Dog Attacked Help/Advice Needed!

to ILoveMyPug and Parlourpuss, you are at the root of so many problems in today's dog society, you probably have as much knowledge about dogs as I have about rocket science.
To come up with ignorant, unhelpful and moronic comments like that shows why some thugs want to use staffies for status and destroy the name of the breed. You probably hate rotties, too...
Seeing people picking up their dogs like you do only reinforce their sense of status, not to mention how your attitude is damaging to your own dogs confidence and how it would wind any dog to jump up.
How the hell do you know aggression from excitement anyway?

Stop putting a breed down because it is fashionable to do so.

Elvis is a clever little boy and I am so proud of the original poster for letting him be a dog again, the fact that he has recovered his spirit so fast is credit to his family and the great way he has been raised, like a dog and not a handbag! They are real troopers and it shows in their dog confidence.

I am made up with the outcome of such an ordeal.

that's so rude. staffies can be a problem, and aggressive staffies are common. if the dog needs to be picked up out of harms way, then good on the owner for thinking about their dog's well being. Staffies can be very strong when just playing and can be too much for small dogs, which can be hurt by a staffie's overexcitement. This is why I don't let my dog play with any staffie, as aggression or over excitement is best avoided with this breed.

Its the people that pick their dogs up when they see a staffy or similar, that dont help the problem. In the wild, they wouldnt have a giant hand to pick them up, they would fight or hide, not wait for a hand to lift them out of harms way. Granted owners shouldn't feel that they have to pick their dogs up and in certain situations picking up has to be done, however, seeing a staffy in the distance on a lead does not warrant picking your dog up to keep it "safe".

I can understand that people are nervous of the breed due to bad press and some are unluky enough to have a bad experience, but to treat all staffies the same is idiotic. Its like treating all red head people a like because of having 1 bad experience of them.

I also understand that staffies are strong dogs and can be over powerful when playing, but again, this is not all staffies. My Staffy cross is really soft when playing and when he is playing with my Patterdale Terrier she is the one being more playful aggressive, not the my Staffy. I know of a little yorkie that is much more hurtful when playing due to the OWNER not training him correctly. If this yorkie were to suddenly turn, as ALL dogs could, it could do some serious harm to animal or human.

Re: Dog Attacked Help/Advice Needed!

I don't care if you call me rude I had that coming and mean every word, so be it! I try as best as I can to keep my dog in check, he suffered under socialization before we rescued him. He never bit a dog, but has fear aggression, if you know what that is. I have worked since on getting him back to be what he is supposed to be, a dog! He is 95% there, he loves any small breed and does not charge them ever. Got nipped several times because of idiots that pick up their dogs and once I tell them he is ok put them down and they go for him; what else to expect when they have been told by their owner they are in danger!

And to seven pets, you should not let any dog get over excited during play, they forget to pick on shift on the other dog's body language. You always racall your dog from time to time no matter the size or breed, thing many small dogs' owners don't ever bother with. Let a dog be a dog for goodness sake!
