Gosh that's horrific and just brings it home that there must be so many dogs out there suffering such abuse because some people haven't evoved and moved on since the dark ages of yank, yell and punish!

Re: Smacking puppies

update on Storm (10 weeks old today)

Using MY method of toilet training NOT my father in laws, ie ignoring accidents and praising when he goes outside, Storm is now asking to go out EVERYTIME he needs the toilet Just proves that it works and I have a happy puppy who isnt nervous, agressive or scared

Re: Smacking puppies

with Storm I take him out every time hes eaten, hes having 4 small meals a day at he moment, I tell him "go wee wee" and he wees straight away, lots of vocal praise from me I then let him have a wander around the garden and he normally has a poo after his lunchtime meal (2nd meal of day) and then after his supper (4th meal) again LOADS of praise I also take him out every time he goes to the back door, again I say "go wee wee" and he wees
I must admit hes learnt a lot faster than Toby did, he was a lab and was still pooing in the house at 16 weeks old occasionally, but he got there in the end bless him
Good luck xx

Re: Smacking puppies

just after my last reply on this thread I ran upstairs quickly, leaving Storm asleep, I was only gone a couple of minutes but you've guessed it... when I came back down he had woken up and there was a big puddle by the back door!!! completely my own fault

awww at least he know where to go closest place to outside...........

well with Bobby he knows hes men to go outside and do the loo he just thinks it more fun to go in the living room and do it thankfully i have hardwood flooring he only does this in the morning usually we can get him out before he goes but he is hard work can hold his poos in for hours so i am usually out and in like a yoyo have tried telling him to go pee pee but he just looks at me as if im stupid i do make a huge fuss over him every time he goes outside so i will just have to keep at it.
