Re: Husband bitten by dog attacking our dog

I dont have any of those but i cleaned him up well earlier and gave him lots of kisses and cuddles, he looked so sad, also a bit like bullseye off oliver, shame. I will keep a close eye on him, i just wonder what state the other dogs in. Did she bother going to the vet if he needed it.

Chris, my husband was only gone around 15 mins and i had gone to my sons close to where the incident took place when a lady knocked on my sons door and told me my dog and husband had been bitten. A lady in her early sixties was walking her staffie my husband avoided her and her dog by crossing over the road mainly because my dog is nervous of other dogs as he has been attacked and bitten twice before, once quite badly, any way the staff saw my dog and chris said it lunged across the road at our dog, the lady let go of the lead and it just started attacking our dog my husband tried to restrain our dog but as a result he was getting bitten around the face and neck my husband had no choice but to let our dog defend him self, chris tried to get hold of the other dogs lead and pull him back and the dog bit his hand and locked on, my husband could not get the dog off so he pulled his hand free meanwhile our dog had locked on to the staff and the owner of the staff was hitting our dog with her hand bag. My husband is in hospital with a badly bitten hand our dog is grazed and cut around his face and mouth which in the circumstances got off lightly, i have reported it to the police and they are coming to take a statement when he comes out of hospital, i dont know what the answer is but is there know where to walk a dog safetly any more. Not where we live any way.
Sorry to hear about you husband,Something simlar happend to me once, my bull terrier was running lose in a feild once when a loose rotty came over allso running loose ! The owner at first was nowhere to be seen the dog started barking at me wich i gotta say scared the Fcuk outa me, then it barked at my bull terrier but started trying playing very rough ,the dog became more and more fierce snapping at my dog ! when i was just putting my dog on its lead , all hell broke out and enevitavle fight started ! my dog started ripping lumps and lumps of black hair out of this rotty ! so i dived in between them trying my hardest to stop it! by this time my dog had locked his jaw on the rottys ear and wasnt letting go ! my heart was pounding more than if i was in a boxing ringas ever time i tryed to get my dog off the other dog went for me !What made it worse was because i had managed to get my dog on its lead, the bloody lead made things worse because it had got wraped around my legs and i got pulled between them! When the owner finaly showed up ,who was a girl and all of about 8st and about 18yrs with no lead ! when we managed to get them apart the rottys ear was in a bad way ! it was bleeding and needed to go to the vet whom at to stich it back on! mmy dog wasnt hurt atall realy but did loose the tip of one of his big front teeth ...

Re: Husband bitten by dog attacking our dog

Im so sorry for your husband and dog, that is aweful.
What a rediculous woman! After all the she started to hit your dog with a bag? I think i would have punched her at that point, despite the dog ripping into me, heh.
Unimaginable, i hope your husband and dog recover fully and that you can start enjoying your walks without feeling like a target, i don't know what i'd do in your situation, but i really hope things change.

There should be dog walking fields that require an entrance exam or something.

I hope your husband and dog both recover.

That is terrible that she took it out on your dog.. when she was at fault for letting go the lead, and not able to control him.

My OH went to the shops Frid. and three people were taken to hospital due to a very drunken man who could hardly stand with a rottie, who was out of control. It was so bad that people were diving into the shops, even with their dogs to get away from them.

Re: Husband bitten by dog attacking our dog

So sorry to hear of this incident I hope both of your boys recover well. The dog is probably more upset missing his daddy than over his cuts bless him.

I would guess... The silly old ladies family have said "look mum were getting you a dog so you feel safe" turned up with a big uncontrollable (for her) sized dog and just abandoned them both, And she is rather silly for accepting that (IF thats the case) And for her to hit YOUR dog with her handbag!!! How rude! She should be getting her dog under control not encouraging her dog to attack more by making it look like shes under attack, Makes me sick really, And i think its fair to say with the new policy of putting down dogs that are aggressive, that dog wont be out on the streets when the police have been round. Just a shame that a potential wonderful loving pet will be destroyed because the owner didnt teach it how to behave
Get well soon to your hubby and baby!

Re: Husband bitten by dog attacking our dog

It really amazes me these days how many irresponsible dog owners there still are! Especially older people with ones they know they cant control! I hope you are thinking of suing the lady, she obviously knew she was in the wrong otherwise she wouldn't have knocked on your sons door! Hope your hubby gets better soon...........let Us know the outcome! And Good luck.
