Re: Firework rant

Oh and another reason I dislike fireworks getting sold to any old body-
Almost 2 years ago I lost my lab x retreiver Jet.
I had only had her 3 months but I loved her loads.
She was a failed gun dog and was terrified of bangs.
Early new years eve, like before it was even dark, she slipped her collar to run after a rabbit and dissapeared. Fireworks got set off by neds on the hill, her100% recal vanished.
She wasn't handed into the vets, police, dog home, council, the binmen didn't find her dead on the road, the farmer didn't find her caught in a ditch or fence, she wasn't spotted being walked by someone else locally and no-one called me regarding my adverts and posters.
I only hope whoever found her and took her home loves her as much as I did.

Re: Firework rant

Well last night was pretty crap for the boys, we kept them in during darkness. They could still hear the fireworks and altho not as bad as when outside they were still pretty scared. Hubs ended up wearing his glass of wine when alf jumped on him and they held on for as long as they could to their pees etc as they refused to go into the garden when they heard one going of at the back somewhere.

Re: Firework rant

Whenever I have a new kitten or puppy i always run the cd from "Company of animals" Clik noises & sounds cd. The cd has sounds of fireworks, thunder, trains, lawnmowers etc. You run this with the volume low and gradually increase the volume over a period of days thus desensitising your pet to these sounds. there are various other products available such as calming collars, serene tablets to relax your pet. Anxiety, a fast acting liquid which is easy to administer and recommended by Dr Roger Mugford. I hope that this is of interest but if you want more information just get in touch
