Angry True Cavvy Or Not??

I bought a CKC Spaniellast week from a supposedly accredited breeder. Now it has come to light that she is only DL registered, but her brothers in the litter were KC. Is this the norm? She said it was because she was too dark to be registered as KC, because she is very unevenly marked tri. When I asked about the dad, she gave me little information.

Looking at her, she has rather a long face, and I'm wondering, has she been interbred/crossbred.

The woman tried to sell me another puppy (a ruby male) and said it didn;t matter if they mated, even though they were related!!!

Also, 1 of her bitches had pups 6 months ago, and she has just mated her again.

My girl also has undershot jaw.

I really need to know what to do, as I have never owned a dog before, and took what she told me at face value.

Please help?????!!!!!!!!!!

Re: True Cavvy Or Not??

did she sell her to you as kc registered was that how she was advertised! She could still have been registered even though she was unevenly marked that doesnt make a difference to the kc it just means they would be penalised for it in the show ring as the markings on a black and tan cavalier are quite exacting.
We have just had a discussion on here about back to back breeding and quite honestly it depends on the circumstances with the bitch.

Your bitch should NEVER be bred from she has an undershot jaw and is not suitable for breeding stock, is she a KC accredited breeder?

yes, she is an accredited breeder. She has been breeding cavaliers for 12 years, and before that siamese cats.

What tosh !!!!!! if brothers can be registered K.C the bitch can too, u register the litter!
sounds like either it isnt from same litter or she has dl registered so u cant breed or show her(which you shouldnt breed and couldnt show from her anyway with undershot jaw etc)
But the breeder should have been honest with you with her reasons
i'm stunned that an accredited breeder has mated a bitch so soon again , a bitch needs to get back into shape before she mates again poor bitch. sounds like a money making machine
Did you meet the mum? Did she give u a pedigree paper? where they vet checked before leaving as i couldnt see a vet missing an undershot jaw !
It is a minefield out there for first time dog purchasers...always insist on seeing mum with pups, ask lots of questions if the breeder doesnt like it then go elsewhere as lets face it that puppy will be yours for the rest of its life so ur entitled to ask questions ,expect a good breeder to ask you lots of questions too as they want the best homes for their puppies .Also ask about any health tests sire and dam have had.
