Dogs and Cars

Where do you put your dog in your car (if you take him/her out in the car) we use a harness that attaches ours to the seatbelt that way he is safe on the backseat (or font if its one our two seater cars). Using the harness also keeps other people safe as it stops the people in the front getting inhured in the result of an accident.

We didn't really like the idea of puting him the boot, also sometimes we have my sisters chair in the car and that could make it danagerous in the boot as you have to take the wheels off and you can't fix them anywhere.

Ours is very good and even if he wasn't harnessed he wouldn't jump around. I personally hate it when you see dogs jumping all over the car, my gran had a dachasund 30-40 years ago and apperentaly that had to sit on her lap while she drove otherwise it would vomit everywhere!!!

Re: Dogs and Cars

hmmmmm well guess where Tootsie would like to sit on my lap - it is the only way she is quiet in the car. But it isnt safe so I put her in her crate on the back seat with a seat belt around. She moans like hell but it is only because she wants to be on my lap. I gave in to her last year and it has made things worse but she now goes in her crate and gets excited about going but moans all the way - drives me crazy
I voted 'other'

Re: Dogs and Cars

My dog sits in the front passenger footwell. She is not keen on being anywhere else.

When we get our new dog - he will be quite a bit bigger so will need to get bigger car.

He will either have his own seat oor a cage type thing in the boot.

Re: Dogs and Cars

2 of ours go in the boot behind the guard and one on the back seat, i'd prefer them all in the boot but they won't fit, LOL The oldest goes on the back seat as he's really good and bomb proof in the car.

Re: Dogs and Cars

we use a crate- we slot it into the boot and in he goes- he seems to quite like it. I like to know that he is nice and secure in there- that in an accident he wouldn't be flung about.

Re: Dogs and Cars

well my dog just sits down when we put him on the back seat so a harness seemed like a waste of money,,,
