Are dogs supposed to have wet noses?

Trudy is our first dog so i am unsure and i thought dogs were always supposed to have wet noses but Trudy's is not wet all the time. She drinks normally and eats ok but not always got a wet nose?!

my dog's nose has never been wet from since he was a pup to now, at a year old. the vet's not worried and he's fine in himself.

Re: Are dogs supposed to have wet noses?

I once said to our vet, willows not too good and her nose is warm and dry, my vet looked at me and said it was old wives tales that a healthy dog has a cold wet nose, she has attended to many very ill dogs with cold wet noses,? I felt a little daft when she said it lol

I used to think the same!

As long as the nose isn't dripping or so dry that it's cracked I'm not worried
