i did a 10 week solid placement in a vets 5 years ago for my college course and they used all sorts of alternative therapies for animals.
some good alternative treatments are hydrotherapy, massage, under water treadmills, lazer therapy, neuromuscular electrical stimulation, physiotherapy, therapeutic ultra sound and alot of others work! i used to watch the nurses do the therapies when their patients came in and i also got to help out a little with a jack russel who regularly came in for physio therapy after his legs were operated on! |

Re: Alternative treatments
Yes, I have visited a hydrotherapy unit which was fantastic for rehabilitation.
At my previous vet practice, they actually had a vet who was also a trained homeopath. I also have rescue remedy in my cupboard, and regularly use Echinacea to boost my cats immune system (she had cat flu as a kitten, before we adopted her from the RSPCA).

Re: Alternative treatments
I haven't tried any alternative treatments, if its a problem that I cannot easily treat its a trip to the vets.
Alternative treatments are something to think about, would a vet ever suggest alternative treatments or is it something an owner would have to decide. Sue |
