Hi, I have touched on this before, but dont want to make the wrong move?
I'm thinking of taking a cavalier king charles spaniel abroad with me when I move to the carribean... some people have said to me that they dont do well in the heat, but others have said if I keep its hair clipped short it should be fine??? I will be keeping it as a house dog so it wont be out in the sun and I will be walking it early morning before it gets hot, but any advise I would be more than grateful for??? anyone had any experience taking a small dog abroad??? Thanks, Ses |

Re: Cavalier king charles spaniel abroad?
Well I cannot comment on the CKS but I have seen many many dogs on the west coast of barbados where I often stay, Many are owned by brits, they do tend to stay in the shade, and remember many of the homes their have air con which helps, people tend to walk their dogs early morning and late evening, again I stress I do not know if it is the same for the CKS and wonder if due to the flat nose the climate could maybe create breathing problems.

Re: Cavalier king charles spaniel abroad?
I think if the house was air conditioned, and you provided lots of shade in the garden then it may be ok, But I have never been to the carribean so dont really know how hot it is there.
Good luck anyway. |
