Food in the bowl 1/10 Food in the kong 10/10 Why?

Just thought I'd garner some opinion and feedback as to why Paddy couldn't care less about kibble or dog food when it's placed in his bowl (even when he's starving), yet will eat every last drop if I stuff it in his kong?

And just to add, this is only something I have discovered this week. For the previous 3 months, I have been resigned to the fact that he will "eat his dog food eventually".

Is this a common puppy trait? Should I just start feeding him via a kong? Even food he hates (e.g. James Wellbeloved Turkey and Rice wet food) gets guzzled up completely so long as it is served 'à la kong'.

Re: Food in the bowl 1/10 Food in the kong 10/10 Why?

he may be just one of those dogs that likes to work for his food, if he is happy eating this way then I cant see a problem so long as he is getting enough food stuffed into the kong to cover his normal size meals.
