I love open plan living for when we're entertaining or at home together, but it means Bramble has to have run of the house when we go out as there is no way of stopping him getting from one room to the other. So next time we move, i'm looking for a house with more doors!

As a temporary measure, what about a room divider? My dog is recovering after an operation and she's in a very sturdy, statted metal, six-sided playpen, but I noticed from the instruction manual that it can be straightened out and attached to the walls as a room divider. It has a gate in it, of course. It could be put in position fairly easily. Unless your dog could leap over it? Mine can't as she's tiny.

Good idea, I think he'd probably just over it, but might get OH to make one on the weekend to test it out.
