Jayjay has been clean for over 2 weeks now, he's 14 weeks old and I don't anticipate anymore accidents. He well and truely knows to go outside! He goes out for a wee and wonders in all happy with himself then suddenly turns and trots back out outside for a poo.

Trinny (collie/staff/jrt) has been clean a few weeks longer but she is 4 weeks older, she was terrible when we first got her but learnt within a week that she went outside for both.

Milo was only partially toilet trained when we got him at 7 months old, he took less than a week to be clean.

I think having a dog flap with the pups has really helped as they go out whenever they need to, rather than having to learn to ask to go out.

Nelson was house trained by about 16 weeks - day and night. Benson of course was trained cos we got him at 4 1/2 years old BUT he did have some accidents in the house when he first came - so its important never to underestimate the stress our pets feel when there's upheavel in their lives

shawnee was dry overnight more or less from the day we got her at 8 weeks old and i would say it took her about another 3 or 4 weeks to be fully trained

we did crate her overnight for a couple of weeks

Re: At what age was your dog toilet trained?

I have never had a dog house trained as quick as Duke. He was clean within three weeks of him arriving. I am not really sure of his age, we were told he was 7.5 weeks but his legs were splayed he didn't stand upright, it may have been he was uncertain of his surroundings but I don't think he was anymore than 6 weeks old.

We had a few accidents during those first three weeks but I'm not complaining. I assumed dogs don't have control until they are about 6 months, I think I read it somewhere. Its like everything they all vary.

Mum is good at house training dogs and she said if he isn't trained by the time you go on holiday he will be by the time you get back. He would have been four months by the time we went on holiday. One up to me

Sue
