Smile Re: Is your dog insured?

i think dog insurance is a very good idea. if your dog is in an accident and you have large vet bills, then the insurer will foot most of the bill, thus leaving you with a small portion.

i have no0t yet got my puppy insured but will be looking in to it very soon!

Oh god yes!! something goes wrong and you're in the poop for hundreds. Zeb had nothing for 7 years, then we got whacked with about £1000 worth of bills due to kidney failure..

Re: Is your dog insured?

I have never had pet insurance. I pay for their treatment as and when necessary.

Insurance does give some people peace of mind and that okay, we all handle our finances differently. Vet fees can easily run into thousands not just hundreds depending on the medical problem.

I must admit I have been looking at insurance simply because some policies cover a lot more than just vets fees and in todays trend to sue everyone for anaything its worth taking a serious look at insurance.

Re: Is your dog insured?

No but I really need to get insurance though can anyone recommend a good one. My big dog has twice now ripped himself on barbed wire and it has cost me about £800 so far. They were only little rips both times - imagine if something more major had happened!

It not that I haven't intended to get it, first I just didn't get around to it and then when he cut himself first time I looked into it but couldn't take it out until he had been treated fully then I didn't get round to it again and now he has just had the stitches out so must must do it tomorrow.

I completely agree! The extras are very attractive but… I was amazed to discover that insuring a bulldog with the kennel club (and admittedly it was the top policy) was around £750 a year! Is this representative of other breeds? If your dog is healthy for say the first 5 years of its life it could be an expensive premium for piece of mind.

Re: Is your dog insured?

My Rotts cost £22 each a month - one with Direct Line, one with M & S - good value I reckon for the top cover

Re: Is your dog insured?

Milo's costs £9 a month with Halifax but the Kennel Club Healthcare plan is about to start costing me £24 a month after the free 6 weeks run out, I hope I get alot more cover than with Milo's for that much!
