Re: Dog bites my dog

I have posted on this subject many times, so you all know my feelings here. I now carry my camera phone ready to film any dog off lead that is aggresive to those I am walking.

There is too much of this happening, and its about time something was done. Have to agree with Darren here though. Had your dog been leashed, you would have had a stronger case I am afraid.

That said, hope your dog is now okay.

Re: Dog bites my dog

These are the results:

There are a total of 6 puncture wounds but you can't view them all due to swelling.

The vet said that if this had been less than 5mm to the left I would have had a dead dog on my hands.

All the best.

Hi Hutch,
In reply to your query regarding your "Rights"

See my and SSKMIK’s posts on the first page of this thread for your legal position.

Just to paraphrase… you could theoretically sue her for negligence and if successful you could obtain damages (vets fees) however this is a relatively costly course of action with no guarantee of success.

I can only say what I would do… approach her, explain what transpired when you got home i.e. discovered your dogs injury. ask her if she would like to contribute to the costs. You never know your luck she might volunteer to pay.

I would imagine going over there and spouting you “rights” would be unlikely to produce the desired result.

Is your dog insured?

Never heard anything so ridiculous.

Its like me trying to sue a speeding driver because my loose dog ran out in front of him

Re: Dog bites my dog

I am not going to march up to her and start yelling, that doesn't solve anything. I am as you state just going to explain exactly what the result was and listen to her response. What she chooses to do is her decision. I stated I was never looking at taking her to court as that is just going too far, too time consuming and doesn't do anyone any good to drag these things out.

To be frank I find this post somewhat ignorant.

Hutch6 asked for someone to explain their “rights” i.e. legal options.

Some helpful forum members have complied.

If you don’t like the rule of law I suggest you move to Mogadishu

The gap between my dog and the other two when we broached the mound was approx 5-7yds. I was a few yards behind Dillon, as he tends to put a gap between us when I going to throw the ball. The short distance between the dogs he covered in the blink of an eye so I had no time to get a responsive recall in that time.
