Angry Ooooh! Makes my blood boil!

I've just come back from Tesco in a right temper! There was a small Daewoo in the car park with three GSDs in it, with only one window open about a quarter of an inch - on a day like today! The poor dogs were panting like mad.

I went to the security officer and asked him to put a call out for the owner - and he said he couldn't because it was nothing to do with him. I pointed out that if he didn't do something the dogs would be dead within a very short time, but he was shaking his head and giving me a blank stare until another chap joined in in support. When I got my phone out to call the RSPCA, he decided that he could put the call out after all.

A woman came eventually, spewing forth abuse about nosy people with nothing better to do than interfere in other people's business (well, that was the drift, but the language was a lot more colourful) and that she knew how to look after her dogs without nosy b.......s like me interfering. I told her that her dogs would have died if left much longer, and that I had a note of her registration and would inform the RSPCA if ever |I saw dogs left in her car again.

OOOOH! WHY are people like that allowed to have dogs?

Re: Ooooh! Makes my blood boil!

I can't believe the security guard didn't think it was his "job" to put the call out over the PA system! What an idiot.

And that dog owner....well, there's a special place in hell reserved for the likes of her. Here where I live, you can be fined for leaving your dog in a car.

You are right....some people don't deserve to have dogs.

PS - I am fascinated by your Bergamascos, I've never seen one before. Are they related to the Puli in any way? Must be something when they come in after a walk in the rain!

Hi Jamie
No, the bergamasco is not related to the puli - the puli's coat is corded, whereas the bergamasco has flat "maps" as they are called. It's quite an oily coat, so when they have a walk in the rain the water stays on the surface - they come in and have a shake and they are dry in about half an hour. (Your walls are covered in splashes almost up to the cailing, though! ) When we bath them, however, we make sure each map is soaked through - and then they can take two or three days to dry

thanks for the info, I didn't know about "maps". I bet they are heavy with all that fur, I'm guessing they don't shed much. Is keeping them cool in the summer an issue?

Well done you!! Most people would have just walked past and ignored the dogs...
You would have actually been in your rights to call the police...they would have come along and broken the car window to get the doggies out..

Re: Ooooh! Makes my blood boil!

Tesco are really crap at stuff like this. What annoys me is the tie out hooks they have for leaving your dog outside while you shop! The amount of times i've passed distressed dogs outside, and they couldn't give a s**t, they're just bothered about who is spending money in the shop!

Re: Ooooh! Makes my blood boil!

You did the right thing. The security officer has probably had run ins with her before.

I can't understand people, ignorance is not an excuse especially with three dogs.

A thank you would have been nice. Well never mind the dogs will have appreciated your help and that's all that matters.

Sue

Re: Ooooh! Makes my blood boil!

How much effort would it of taken for the woman to tie them up somewhere outside of the car - thats what I do if I really have to stop and go somewhere without them when they are in the car!
