Ruby's changing colour at 2 years old ?

Is this normal??

I've just looked at her now and realised how light she is. She used to have very black fur with no grey roots, so I always thought she'd stay black and tan. But now I've just really looked at her, her coats going grey!

Can they change colour this late? She'll be 3 in February.

It happens with black dogs they do show it when they go grey. We used to have a blck whippet. He developed a grey muzzle at around 12 months old. When I showed hi the judges did not believe he was only 12 months old.

Re: Ruby's changing colour at 2 years old ?

I got my Ziggy at 18 months, she's a tri collie cross. The markings on her face that were deep tan, they are now nearly white. Her first white eyelash came about a year ago, now they are nearly all white. White hairs have started appearing in the black of her back and legs. She was 6 in June.

I expect it will continue! I know in humans vitamin B5 is supposed to help slow down the fade to grey, but a canine diet should be rich in it anyway.
