Re: Springer/Cocker cross

There are sometimes litters advertised in the shooting times magazine.
They are known as 'sprockers' in the gundog world or try uk gundogs website.
Good luck.

Ruprecht is on a distinguished road
Re: Springer/Cocker cross

My parents always had dogs so I grew up with them but this will be 'my' first dog. I don't dislike Cockers but 3 of my friends/family have them so I wanted something a bit different.

I didn;t even know you could get different size Springers (please excuse my ignorance!) So would I just ask the breeder whether the puppies will be a smaller sized Springer?

Your going to have to put a huge amount of training into a springer cocker if you want it anywhere near obedient - if youve never owned either of the breeds before id say get a purebred first. They are not as dramatic a dog as youve had experience of - they simply need good ownership and plenty of training, once theyve got this youve basically got a great versatile pet. But a springer cocker is a very (huuuuuge) big challenged id say...
(they have the looks of a small and unassuming dog which is misleading, they infact they like nothing better than tearing apart an ache of greenbelt lol their looks could easily catch you out)
I would certainly hang on to every word of the post above, it makes a lot of sense, some people will have had this mix and done very well but they will have had to put in a hell of a lot of work, unless they have been incredibly lucky.
