Re: Crestie Poo I could not believe it

yes i would agree with that then a lot of dogs wouldnt have so many problems and i also agreed that some dogs should never be allowed to mix together im not for cross breeding or against it in my post i was just trying to say that there not all as bad as people make out and felt that i got a bit attacked for having an opinion up untill now ive always had pedigrees but as ive said accidents do happen and if people didnt rehome these dogs there would be even more in rescue than there already is im not one of these that go for disighner dogs to me they look a bit silly

well someone is breeding this cross as a couple of litters have been advertised on a certain puppy site
so maybe 1 accident is a one off
but when more litters appear its not a accident,
same as the crestie x boxer ones
and some of those were be readvertised as for sale from their first homes at 12 weeks
cos they could not cope
breeders did not want to know

You didn't answer my question, the statement I posted clearly implies that you believe that purely because the breeder was breeding crosses, that they are a irresponsible breeder (which in my opinion, anyone that breeds without health checks is).

If you go to a rescue you'll see all kinds of dogs, "designer" and otherwise, so I don't see how that's relevant? My point is that people like you point out all these negatives about cross breeds as though they're specific to cross breeds and purebred dogs don't suffer with the same problems.

Lauren, that part of my post was about people buying, not breeders. When a post is started up about buying a cross puppy, people start posting about how it's unethical and about how horrible it is that people breed purely for money. It's NOT true in all cases and, as I said, people don't reply to posts about purebred puppies with those things (which are concerns when buying ANY puppy).

I just don't understand some peoples' need to alienate people simply because we choose a different breed of dog to others. If we've done our research, done everything we can to ensure buying a healthy, responsibly raised puppy, why is that any worse than doing the same for a purebred?

I don't expect cross breeds to be treated any differently to pure bred dogs and find it disturbing that supposed dog lovers find it acceptable to treat animals and their owners with very little respect (either directly or passively) purely because of their love for a different breed.

Re: Crestie Poo I could not believe it

Personally I get sooooo bored with reading to the rights and wrongs of cross breeds and pedigrees etc.

Sorry if I am sounding a little naive, but surely ALL of these dogs are in need of a loving home regardless of their breeding/how much they cost? Can we not just agree to disagree and move on? Whether you agree with it or not, cross breeds are here to stay and loads of owners are incredibly happy with them.

This argument is in danger of putting people who own a "designer" cross breed off asking for help and advice because of the potential abuse they may get.

I have found this forum so very helpful (and I am yet to find my perfect pooch!) but it makes me sad to think that this old argument may put people off using it and finding help like I have. Please don't let this happen.

Actually quite a few people have already left because of the negative opinions brazenly thrown about as fact by some members of this forum. That includes experienced owners that have helped a lot of people on here and I'm sure a lot of potential owners that could've used the knowledge available here to enrich their pet's lives have been put off signing up.
