My smooth coat chihuahuas coat thick, unlike most smooth coats i'd say, she moults everywhere all through the year, I do brush her often to try and get it out with little luck.
Ive never been to a dog groomerso thought i'd see if they could help, well what fun ive had with them! I've tried 4 so far all have spoken to me like a kn*b.
Ive settled for one which im talking her in to today, I still dont think she fully understands how hairy she is, so im hoping she'll eat her snooty words once she sees her. Apparently you dont clip chihuahuas which is fair enough but with one with as thick coat as vic all the time surley there must be somethin they can do.
I must say i am dreading going after her bein such a cow on the phone, but hey we'll give it a go and hopefully if its easy maybe i can do it next time. She's just my pet not a show dog

iwould get your own clippers they charge the earth to clip them i cut my bedlington its easy when you get going nice to see somebody else from lincs on gazt

Ive just got her back, all shes had is a bath and a good groom but is still all hairy! Im pretty p*ssed off, i could of done that myself and not spent the whole afternoon worried what a weirdo i'd left her with!

im in lincoln were are you, makes you sick you could of done it your self never mind get the clippers i,m shore you will manage the job after all she is tiny i cut the bedlington with scisors and she looks ok,costs about 25 pounds in lincoln maybe more now

hi have your tried a stripping comb you can buy them at any pet shop if you use it every day i think it would thin her coat down

We're moving abroad aug/ sept time so i think she will need to be clipped for that or shes going to be way hot

My groomer is really nice and does whatever you ask her to do and the dogs love going to see her they get all excited. I have my 3 done every 7 - 8 weeks and cause i have 3 she only chargesme £20 each. Not all groomers are snotty. You just need to shop around.

I agree englishrose943 my groomer is great but i have had a couple of right witches too in the past LOL
A good groomer is worth their weight in gold!

with us moving abroad i wont always be able to get her to a groomer so im going to just have to learn to do it myself, im sure vic wont mind if she gets a few dodgy hair cuts! lol

Smoothcoats do tend to shed all year round but longcoats shed seasonally!
