Dog share offered for agility competitions/training.

Ok this may be strange but i think with the circumstances it may work, i wont post all the details here but will divulge a bit more with any one interested.

I have a stunning blue merle border collie but for various reasons including working evenings i cant train him and he needs more exercise than he is getting.

I was hoping there was someone out there (in wigan) who maybe likes dogs but cant have one of their own, or maybe has a dog but want to compete in agility and their own dog cant.

Ok now here for the not so good part, he is a problem dog and needs someone experienced, he is quite nervy outside and has trouble dealing with anything bigger than a car on the road, he hates getting in a car and has to be lifted in but is fine travelling, he is dog agressive and has to be muzzled when out, ill be perfectly honest he has growled at people when out but this is because he was spooked and is very unsure.

His last trainer sort of gave up and two vets said PTS him as they think he has bad breeding problems (his sister is the same and is also deaf and partially blind although he dosnt appear to suffer from any of those conditions)

Im hoping training will get him more confident and he is frightened of many people except me so would benefit i think from being trained by someone else.

I have found what looks like a good agility club just off the M6 warrington junction (my local club dosnt like less than perfect dogs sadly) of course he would still be my dog and all responsibility lies with me but if someone would like to train him and compete i would ask if they paid for the course, ill be looking into getting him insured.

If anyone can see any real negatives to this id like to hear but as i said i havnt posted all the details so it maybe wont make as much sense to people reading this as it does me.

Although the other reality is he goes for rehoming which i dont really want to part with him plus there are enough unwanted dogs needing homes, things may change in the future where i may be able to commit training myself although if someone commits to training/competing him i woudlnt interfere with that.

His name is Bracca, he his neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and will look into insuring him, he is just 12 months old and is very lively but will give so much back in the right hands.

Re: Dog share offered.

I f you want your dog trained in whatever, you really need to go along and at least watch him being trained so then you can learn how to train your dog, then you will also be able to take part in his training,

Re: Dog share offered.

If he has neurological problems, it may well be best to have him PTS. Sounds very harsh, but I have a friend who had a dog with similar problems, it gets worse, and in the end, she had to have him PTS before he attacked someone.

Re: Dog share offered.

I personally wouldn't have that dog in any group training session (be it flyball, agility, or general obedience/puppy socialization). Too much of a risk, in my opinion.

You need to hire a really good personal trainer to help you work out your dog's issues. If you don't think you can handle him, maybe he does need a new home, especially if you don't have the "time" to handle this.
